Legal & Policies

The terms, policies, and rider commitments that govern travel on Northwestern Stage Lines.

Terms and Conditions

Changes, cancellations, and refunds

Your ticket is valid only for the date and time you originally scheduled. Some changes are allowed, as described below. If the shuttle you want costs more than the one you paid for, you pay the difference. (Exception: some specials are valid only on specific days.)

1. Changes to your scheduled departure date or time. You can make up to 2 changes to your original departure date or time without a $2.95 per-person change fee, as long as the shuttle you want costs the same as or less than your original. 2. Cancellation of reservations. You can cancel a reservation at least 1 hour before departure. You then choose one of these options: - (a) A full refund minus a $2.95 per-person processing fee (see items 8 and 9 below), or - (b) A credit for the full fare with no processing fee, to use toward future travel. We apply this credit to your account. You must complete travel using this credit within 1 year of the original travel date.

If you cancel this same reservation a second time, it cannot be reinstated (see item 3 below). 3. Reinstatement of reservation. We can reinstate a cancelled reservation or credit for a trip of equal or lesser value, as long as you complete travel within 1 year of the original travel date. Credits not used within 1 year of the original travel date are no longer valid and cannot be reinstated. 4. Changes due to airline delays. If you need to change a reservation because of an airline delay or cancellation, we change it without penalty. If your flight is delayed, you can ride the next available shuttle without penalty. 5. No-show passengers forfeit their reservation and ticket. 6. All reservations, including changes, depend on seat availability. 7. No refund is available if you cancel less than 1 hour before departure. 8. A refund minus a $2.95 per-person processing fee is available if you cancel at least 1 hour before departure. 9. We encourage you to call our office to confirm your reservation at least 24 hours before departure.

Boarding, arrival times, and schedule changes

  • Be at your boarding location at least 10 to 15 minutes before your scheduled departure. If the vehicle is not there by your scheduled departure time, call the office immediately.
  • We reserve the right to refuse transportation to anyone who, in our sole opinion, may be disruptive to the driver or other passengers.
  • Walk-on passengers ride on an availability basis. Be at the pick-up or drop-off location at least 15 minutes before departure, because the shuttle may leave early once all scheduled passengers have boarded. Northwestern Stage Lines does not guarantee a stop at any location where no passenger is scheduled. We recommend that everyone makes a reservation.
  • Northwestern Stage Lines may choose to delay a departure so passengers on connecting routes can catch the shuttle. The shuttle may also leave before its scheduled time once all passengers with confirmed reservations have checked in with the driver.
  • Weather, road conditions, or other factors may cause earlier or later departures and arrivals. You agree to comply with necessary schedule changes and to keep Northwestern Stage Lines informed of how to reach you.

Luggage, left items, and freight

  • Each passenger may bring 2 checked bags (up to 50 pounds each) and 2 carry-ons. We do not check luggage in, and you are solely responsible for it. Mark every bag clearly with your name and phone number. Excess and odd-sized luggage is accepted only if space is available, for a fee of $10 per piece. You may not carry any flammable, illicit, or unlawful products on your person or in your luggage.
  • Northwestern Stage Lines is not responsible for items left on our shuttles. We hold left items for 30 days. You are responsible for arranging pickup or return and for all related expenses. You are responsible for the care and handling of your own luggage. Rental carts are available at the airport curb and inside the terminals.
  • Northwestern Stage Lines is not responsible for any lost, stolen, damaged, or misplaced freight. We do not guarantee delivery of any freight. Insurance is not available for freight. Mark all freight clearly with a name and phone number. Northwestern Stage Lines may open or inspect any item sent as freight. We may require proof of identification to release a package.

Parking and delay liability

Parking. Northwestern Stage Lines does not authorize passengers to park at any of our stops. You are responsible for making sure your vehicle is parked where the host business approves. You are responsible for any damage or towing charges. Boarding locations are provided as a courtesy by host businesses. Neither those businesses nor Northwestern Stage Lines assumes liability for vehicles left at any location.

Delays and connections. Northwestern Stage Lines makes its best effort to get you to your destination on or before the scheduled arrival time. Northwestern Stage Lines is not responsible for delays caused by weather, road or traffic conditions, mechanical failure, or other unforeseen conditions. Any expenses caused by delayed departures or arrivals, including missed flights, schedules, or other travel connections, are your responsibility.

Onboard conduct and dispute resolution

  • Smoking and the use of alcohol or illicit drugs are not allowed or tolerated.
  • You agree to hold harmless and indemnify Northwestern Stage Lines from any claims of any kind that a third party may assert against Northwestern Stage Lines for your actions, whether negligent or intentional.
  • If Northwestern Stage Lines has to enforce these Terms and Conditions by suit or otherwise, you will reimburse all reasonable costs and attorney's fees incurred.
  • The parties will settle any dispute arising under this contract by arbitration. The parties share the arbitrator's fees equally, unless the arbitrator decides otherwise at the end of the arbitration.
  • If you have a question about our service or these Terms and Conditions, call our office.

Package Shipping Terms

Package Shipping Terms

Northwestern Stage Lines transports packages for 40% of the ticket fare. A package is any item, including a box, keys, suitcase, or envelope.

To meet Department of Transportation regulations, Northwestern Stage Lines requires the following information for each package reservation:

  • Ship-from name and contact information
  • Ship-to name and contact information
  • Number of packages
  • Weight (an estimate is fine)
  • Destination
  • Commodity

Package pick-up locations and destinations are limited. Packages travel on a direct route and cannot transfer between drivers.

Insurance is not available on packages. Northwestern Stage Lines does not compensate for, and is not liable for, damaged, delayed, lost, stolen, missed, or left packages.

Drivers cannot wait for packages being dropped off or picked up. Be at the pick-up or drop-off location 15 minutes before arrivals and departures, and approach the driver yourself. Packages are never left at a location for later pickup. A package that is not picked up is taken to the nearest company office. You must arrange pickup within 48 hours. After that, the item goes to lost and found for 30 days and is then donated.

Mark every package clearly with the name and phone number of the person picking it up, the date, and the destination.

Packages cannot exceed 50 pounds or 30 inches on any side. Heavier and larger items may be sent with management approval and are subject to a greater fee.

Northwestern Stage Lines will not transport items that are illegal, explicit, or motorized. Northwestern Stage Lines reserves the right to open and inspect packages when necessary.

Reservations are required for any package sent on our routes.
